The Department of Mathematics at Kansas State University offers three emphases designed to prepare students for a wide range of careers or advanced study. The actuarial emphasis is intended for students pursuing careers in actuarial science or the financial services sector. The applied emphasis prepares students to use mathematics in business, government, or industry settings. The pure emphasis is designed for students planning to pursue graduate study in mathematics or related fields.
